NA5DV's Participation in the 9th Annual Museum Ship's Event on June 3-4, 2006

During our participation in the "Museum Ships Weekend Event on June3-4, 2006, sponsored by the Battleship New Jersey Amateur Radio Station, the Battleship Texas Amateur Radio Station (BTARS-NA5DV) contacted 193 amateur radio stations in the United States and Canada. 163 contacts were made on 20 meter ssb on both days and 30 contacts were made on 40 meter ssb and cw on Saturday.

Ten radio operators operated 20 meter SSB, both days and 40 meter CW on Saturday only. We were pleased to have many visitors during the week-end event. Thanks to the ship's crew for assistance when needed.

We invite Houston area amateur radio operators to assist in the operation of BTARS. Send an email to Frank Cooper at fxc@prodigy.net if you would like to participate in our next operation. It will take place in the General Stores Keeper's office on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, from 10:00 am until 5:00 p.m. as part of the commeration of the December 7, 1941, bombing of Pearl Harbor.
